I sit sipping my morning coffee,
Unaware of my surroundings.
Adrift in my subconscious,
Focused on one thing.
My attention is poised on the delicate,
Yet sturdy fluttering of a single butterfly.
It flutters, then just drifts through the air,
Unaware of my presence in its garden.
The Monarch butterfly with its brilliance,
Adorned with shades of gold, orange, and black.
Known as the King of Butterflies,
Flits from one flowering stem to another.
As it flutters, it rests on the petals,
Of lilies blooming nearby.
Equipped with its own straw coiled,
Ready to drink the sweet liquids it finds.
Gracefully, it floats through the air,
Light as a feather, with a keen eye for nectar.
Fruit trees and a sweet smelling garden,
Attract these beautiful creatures.
Able to flutter through life,
Enjoying the sweetness of nature.
Unaware of the dangers ahead,
Yet boldly displays this endless beauty.
